Research

My research focuses on Contemporary Film and TV Music. I study how technology has changed the way we compose and how this fact had an impact on the aesthetic and the role of music in film. In particular, I analyze how sample libraries, recording, and sound processing generated a new virtual model for the film orchestra, which I call the Hyperorchestra. I also study how this new framework opened music to explore the sound spectrum as a sort of canvas, being liberated from the classical structures of chords, tonalities, and melodies.
