Throughout the Hubble: A Gallactic Suite for Concert Band

Two years ago, Barcelona's Concert Band commissioned me a piece for its 125th anniversary. I wrote a piece inspired by the discoveries of the Hubble Telescope, at the time when it began its last mission.

The first movement, Overture: A Space Adventure, refers to the Epic of a Space Mission: it is a trip to explore the unknown, using the latest technology but without the security of success. The second movement, Nebulae, is inspired in Nebulae, areas of Space Dust that can be seen as fields that will generate stars and planets. The third movement, Black Hole, symbolizes the stellar destruction and the annihilation of everything that gets closer to it. The fourth movement, The Death of a Star, is inspired in the last period of time of a star, where they grow, release dust, and are slowly fading out. The fifth movement, The Star Nursery: the Rebirth, is inspired by what the scientists working with Hubble call "Star Nursery": the areas in Nebulae where young stars are growing, finishing the "galactic circle of life"
